This year, our creation and mentorship of a local middle school’s first FTC team could be considered one of the most important and rewarding outreach efforts we have ever undertaken. Odyssey Middle School is a local private school and alma mater of many members of the team, making it a great location to start and mentor a team. The team started off with weekly visits from members of our team to support them in organization, programming, and engineering. The middle schoolers were eventually able to work mostly on their own, working hard to create a successful team that managed to win the Judge’s Award at a competition! We are proud to have been able to teach important skills to the younger members of the community and instill a love of robotics and STEM within them.
